Over the course of the term I believe that I have shown my use of evidence has developed significantly. I feel as though my work wasn’t terrible in the beginning of the term but I have certainly gotten better and it shows in my Significant Writing Project. In my first writing project I had a short introduction, followed some mediocre paragraphs and ending with a stubby conclusion. I showed good evidence in my first writing project but I did not have enough “I say”.
My significant writing project had a strong introduction, followed by three Barclays paragraphs and a thoughtful conclusion to wrap it all up. A specific example that I use in my Significant writing project is a quote from Alexander. I wrote, Kara Poe Alexander states “students of differing socioeconomic backgrounds invoke the child prodigy narrative differently” (620). Following this quote I added some “I say” text followed by a text to text connect between Alexander and a literacy narrative by Paige Hibbard. I believe I effectively integrated my ideas throughout the course of this Barclays paragraph. With the use of the text to text connections that I made, my paper was strengthened and followed better. I used this method throughout the course of the paper and I feel as though it was stronger because of it.
