Students in this class will explore management best practices of innovation through technology grounded in the evolution of information systems as well as new, trending, emerging, and disruptive technologies. The course will examine information systems common in organizations, businesses, and society. Particular focus will be on preparing students to use critical thinking skills to analyze and solve problems and find opportunities. This will be done through hands on active learning projects to create innovation and impacts through application of enabling technologies and management implementation methods. Examples of management methods used include rapid prototyping web/social media applications, conceptual designs of apps, and basic coding of small computers such as Raspberry Pi’s/Arduinos.

This class’s objective is to get students familiar with the information systems in businesses. Students will be working with new technologies to develop their own products as well as learn how to properly market them. Through hands on projects and class discussion students will develop their innovation skills.
